DEVELOPING SKILLS & CHARACTER QUALITIES AT SIR CHRISTOPHER HATTON ACADEMY
Here at Sir Christopher Hatton Academy (SCHA), we believe the holistic development of our students is essential as part of a high-quality education. We want our students to achieve excellence in their academic studies alongside developing their skills and character qualities to become the very best people they can be. Together with many other areas of a students’ experience here at SCHA such as our HBacc programme, our Diversity, Equalities, Inclusion work and Lifeskills programme, Enrichment plays a crucial part in ensuring students in Year 7 and Year 8 can develop their skills and character qualities. Students take part in a wide-range of activities from Squash and table tennis to Manga, Dance and Performance Arts Leaders. The activities on offer throughout the first 2 years of ‘life at Hatton’ provides every student with the opportunity to discover and develop their talents and interests that help to give life balance and richness, promoting both happiness and motivation.
Tuesday Period 6 is our dedicated Enrichment time for Year 7 to 8. Students participate in a range of activities that broaden their school experience and allow them to challenge themselves. Year 7 develop their skills and character qualities for their HBacc Award with a bespoke carousel of activities throughout the year, including Short Story Writing, Games and Challenges, Circus Skills, Debating and Fit For Life.
Hatton Eco Team helping in the Local Community
Over 20 students from the Hatton Eco team completed a litter pick in Cedar Way and other local areas last term. Our Eco team are keen to support the local community to ensure our streets are clean and tidy. Students developed their character qualities of team work, responsibility and citizenship.
Well done to all of our Eco team.
