SCHA CURRICULUM INTENT
At Sir Christopher Hatton, we set high expectations to ensure that every students excels across all aspects of academy life. Our curriculum will support the academy aims of ‘Aiming for Excellence’ in all that we do.
Our intention is to ensure all our students make outstanding progress and that the curriculum removes any potential barriers to learning. We endeavour for our students to leave with knowledge and skills to create and enhance lifelong opportunities beyond the academy.
A Sir Christopher Hatton student will:
- Experience a broad, deep and knowledge rich curriculum and become successful and lifelong learners
- Be literate and numerate
- Have high expectations for their behaviour and achievement
- Become responsible global citizens and develop their cultural, social, moral, mental and physical development
- Have secure foundations for progression and be prepared for the changing world of work
Curriculum Organisation
The academy runs a timetable which comprises of 25 academic periods per week. In addition, there are three tutor periods a week, one 55 minute Lifeskills (PSHE) period and one 50 minute Enrichment period.

Curriculum Structure
KS3
The KS3 curriculum is designed to build on the new primary national curriculum. Faculties develop their KS3 curriculum based on the KS3 national curriculum with appropriate changes being included in order to support student's preparation for specific KS4 courses.
KS4
The KS4 curriculum provides the flexibility to support students in following a route appropriate to enable the student to succeed.
VI Form
In the VI Form, students are able to tailor their curriculum with an appropriate mixture of level 3 academic (A Level) and vocational (BTEC) qualifications.
